Part 3:
–Looking Back at 9-11
It’s been almost 5 years. Reading through the comments on Metafilter for that day is interesting. As well as reading the 9-11 Commission Report. There’s always wikipedia or conspiracy theories to peruse too.
–Bush’s First Veto
Never mind the scientific value. Oh well, what’s done is done, what’s said is said. (video warning)
–Baseball stadiums galore
If ballparks are your interest you might want to look at the dimensions of some older ones. Compare them with current ballparks. While you’re at it, why not check out some minor league stadiums or some stadiums of the future. Of course, stadiums are located all over the world. Then combine 3 parts small stadiums with innumerable parts steroids and Human Growth Hormone, and, voila, Baseball presents: The Steroid Era.
–*Man fires rifle while calling radio show
From the land of Bizarro World. While calling Opie & Anthony‘s syndicated show. He was on the air and arrested. This is the same show that once aired a live broadcast (audio warning) of people having sex in St. Patrick’s Cathedral. They were fired, then later ended up back on the air.
–Crazy people predict nuclear bombing
I don’t know who these people are. They are using some kind of Bible code to predict a nuclear bombing at the UN headquarters between July 25 and July 28. This was a sponsored link on a Google search for Google News.
–The Weather has been news of late
Not only in the U.S. where the heat is blamed for at least six deaths and a spike in energy consumption but in Europe, where at least six have also died.
Blah, blah, blah, global warming.
–Hurricanes Tropical Storms anyone?
Doesn’t look like it’s going to hit but surely has people thinking about hurricane season. For all things hurricane check out The National Hurricane Center’s Tropical Prediction Center‘s web presence. Look at some past hurricanes and be blessed with the knowledge of the cyclonic storms. And then again, maybe not.
–North Korea’s still out there
Luckily for us, there exists a wealth of information, just ask the CIA, or the North Korean news outlet. It’s not as if Western travellers aren’t permitted in North Korea. In fact some tour operators do exist, of course, your trip will be “guided.” But you do get to kiss The Great Leader‘s feet. Some travellers have brought back photos and stories and been so kind as to publish them on the web. It’s strange seeing behind a veil of such secrecy. Truly an eerie place.
